Scouting for Browns: Interior Defensive Linemen

The Browns lack youth in their interior of their defensive line and need some young reinforcements.

Strengths:

Great athletic ability, an A+ athlete for an interior defensive lineman. Powerful hands and uses his long arms to abuse blockers right to their core. Uses his movement skills to knife past defenders. Great at penetrating past his man, keeps his chest very clean from hands. Unstoppable when he gets going as a pass rusher. Has a variety of moves from a strong club to a vicious rip move. Willing to chase in pursuit and does a good job of lining his man up.

Weaknesses:

Would like to see him hold up at the point of attack on running downs slightly better. Can be pushed back when the offensive line gets aggressive in run blocking. Only a one year producer, why the late breakout?

Fit for the Browns:

Javon Kinlaw is the best interior defensive line prospect in the NFL draft. Athletic and absolutely monster size wise, Kinlaw finally put it all together his final year at South Carolina. Kinlaw would challenge for snaps immediately in the Browns front four and would become an easy replacement for Shelton Richardson in a year or two, depending on how long they would like to move on from Richardson. Almost certainly would need to be taken at 10, if Kinlaw even makes it that far in the NFL Draft.

Been a Browns fan since birth but unfortunately don't remember much of the good times. Lived through expansion era, the Butch era, Romeo era, Mangini, Holmgren, Sashi, Dorsey and now we begin a new era!
